Running the scripts to create and initialize the database

Scripts are provided to allow you to create and initialize your TrueSight Middleware and Transaction Monitor database. You can find these scripts in two locations:

  • In the SQL folder of the TrueSight Middleware and Transaction Monitor InstallDir:
    • Windows: InstallDir\SQL
    • UNIX: InstallDir/SQL
  • On the installation DVD in:
    • Windows: \SQL{_}your_os_
    • UNIX: /SQL/your_os/

Before you begin

You must have completed one of the following tasks:

The scripts create and initialize your database objects and must not be modified.

The script files have names that indicate their purpose. For example, the DB2 scripts are named: db2.create.sql and db2.init.sql.

Different versions of the scripts are provided for Windows and for UNIX. If the tool you use to run the scripts is on Windows, use the scripts from the Windows directory irrespective of the operating system on which the database and services are installed. Likewise, if the tool you use to run the scripts is on UNIX, use the scripts from the UNIX directory irrespective of the operating system on which the database and services are installed.

After running the init script, do not run any statistics on the schema until you review Runstats.

Re-running the scripts

If you need to rerun either of the scripts, contact BMC Support. Have the log files (database.create.log, database.init.log) available to send to BMC Support. The commands for running the scripts include parameters for creating the logs as described in the section on running the scripts.
