A report display item is used to show historical data on a view or dashboard. Many of the views distributed with TrueSight Middleware and Transaction Monitor (TMTM) contain default reports. You can also create new report display items.
Reports are placed and positioned in views and dashboards in the same way as are other display items. To configure the report, a report design is selected and configured from the Report tab of the Properties dialog box. See Selecting a report design.
Note
Report display items are only used to display historical data using an existing report design. These designs cannot be created or modified from within the Monitor Console. For information about creating report designs, see Working with the Report Designer.
Report performance
Report designs that query large numbers of objects (in the thousands) can take minutes to compile, but finishes unless cancelled by the user (via the Progress dialog box displayed while the report runs). Running large reports on a services host with a single-core CPU impacts Application Service responsiveness. Consideration should therefore be given to running large reports on single-core processors as batch jobs, scheduled during off-peak hours. CPUs with multiple threads or cores might be able to run large reports without impact to the Application Service responsiveness, depending on additional workload.
