Starting version 8.9.03, BMC Server Automation is renamed to TrueSight Server Automation. This space contains information about BMC Server Automation 8.9.02 and previous versions. For TrueSight Server Automation 8.9.03 and later releases, see TrueSight Server Automation 8.9.

Getting started

The BMC Server Automation product is a comprehensive system for the initial provisioning and ongoing automated management of data center servers. Using this system, administrators can provision operating systems onto servers and then specify how the server should be configured. BMC Server Automation lets administrators manage servers with a consistent user experience, regardless of whether the servers are physical or virtual.

BMC BladeLogic Rapid Deployment Stack for Servers (BladeLogic RDS) is no longer supported.

BMC Education Services provide Foundation courses covering the topics discussed in the walkthroughs available in this section. The education classes discuss when and why to make use of various features as well as the “how-to”. If you are interested in looking deeper into these topics, we recommend that you check out the education offerings at training.

The following topics are designed to enable you to quickly leverage the many automation capabilities of BMC Server Automation.

The BMC Server Automation quick start page introduces you to the main use cases of BMC Server Automation and allows you to execute them from a centralized UI. You can use the option in the Configuration menu to launch the quick start page manually when required.

 What's the Automation Academy?

The Automation Academy introduces you to a key BladeLogic use case and then provides several step by step, cookbook-style examples that walk you through a specific aspect of that use case. The initial release of Automation Academy included topics on automation concepts, provisioning, and configuration management.
