Configuring an SNMP server

When a BMC Server Automation job completes, it can generate an SNMP trap. In addition, when an Audit Job detects consistent or inconsistent results, it too can generate an SNMP trap. To enable SNMP traps, you must configure an SNMP server.

  1. Start the Application Server Administration console, as described in Starting the Application Server Administration console.
  2. To specify the name or IP address of the SNMP server, enter the following:
    set snmpconfig snmpserver <hostname>
where <hostname> is the name or IP address of the host managing SNMP trap notifications.
  3. To specify a listening port for the SNMP server, enter the following:
    set snmpconfig snmpport #
where # is the port used to contact the SNMP server.
  4. Restart the Application Server.
