Viewing progress and results of a Patch Catalog Job

Use the following procedure to monitor the progress and view the results of a Patch Catalog Job. This procedure applies to original creation and update jobs.

  1. Navigate to the Patch Catalog Job in the Depot folder, right-click it, and select Open. A view opens for the job.
  2. Click the Results tab at the bottom of the view. Job histories appear for each Update Catalog attempt.
  3. For more information about a particular job run, perform any of the following actions:
    • To view the status or progress of a Patch Catalog Job Run, right-click the relevant job run, and select Show Log.
      The right panel displays the details of the run, including warning or error messages received during the update.
    • To view the results of a Patch Catalog Job Run, click the job name in the results view editor and then click the relevant job run.
      A results view opens for the job.

To troubleshoot errors or warnings, investigate the following common problems:

  • Ensure that your file server's RSCD agent is licensed.
  • Ensure that the user has the RBAC permissions required to configure patching.
  • If items in the patch catalog are outdated, the files might not be available at the URLs provided in the Shavlik files. To prevent this issue (and also to lessen the catalog update process time):
    1. Click the Windows Catalog tab in the job run view (as described previously in Step 2).
    2. Clear Download from Vendor.
    3. Later, when you are creating the Windows Patching Job, you can automate the patch download process by configuring the Remediation option.
