Deploying directly from the patch catalog (AIX only)

After creation of the patch catalog, you can deploy directly to the target server in either the apply or the commit state without first performing analysis.

To deploy directly from the patch catalog in the apply state

From the patch catalog, right-click any Technology Level, Service Pack, APAR ID, PTF, Critical Fix, Security Fix, or Latest Fix and select Deploy.

A Deploy Job is created. The Deploy Job installs all filesets in the Apply state using the default install command identified on the AIX Container panel for the selected Technology Level, Service Pack, APAR ID, PTF, Critical Fix, Security Fix, or Latest Fix.

The default install command, defined on the AIX Container Panel, is as follows:

installp -a -Y -d . all

To deploy directly from the patch catalog in the commit state

  1. From the patch catalog, right-click any Technology Level, Service Pack, APAR ID, PTF, Critical Fix, Security Fix, or Latest Fix and select Open.
  2. In the Install Command box, enter the following command:

    installp -ac -Y -d . all
  3. Save and close the AIX Container Properties panel.
  4. From the patch catalog, right-click any Technology Level, Service Pack, APAR ID, PTF, Critical Fix, Security Fix, or Latest Fix and select Deploy.
    A Deploy Job is created which installs all filesets in the Commit state using the default install command identified on the AIX Container panel for the selected Technology Level, Service Pack, APAR ID, PTF, Critical Fix, Security Fix, or Latest Fix.
