Displayed information for software applications

The following figure presents an example of a Live Browse display of software applications discovered by BMC Atrium Discovery and Dependency Mapping.

The following table describes each node level in the display of discovered software applications and provides information about the further details provided for certain nodes.

Node

Description

Further information

Atrium Discovery

Groups all information about discovered applications on the server.

None

Applications

A first-level container for all applications.

None

Software Instances

The container for all types of discovered software applications.

A table at right provides a summary of the types of software discovered and the number of instances of each.

individual applications

A node for each discovered type of software application, identified by software name and version. This node serves as a container for the instances of the software application.

A table at right displays properties for each instance of the software application.

individual instances

A node for each instance of the software application, identified by its internal name.

To view instance properties in a Properties window, right-click and select Properties. A standard set of properties are available, along with properties that vary by software type. For information about the properties displayed, see Property descriptions.

Discovered Software

A first-level container that serves as a heading to a basic list of discovered software applications.

A table at right provides a summary of the types of software discovered and the number of instances of each.

individual applications

A node for each discovered type of software application, identified by software name and version.

None

Note

Although the Software Instances node and the Discovered Software node both group similar lists of discovered software applications on the managed server, the Software Instances node provides more details about the individual software instances while the Discovered Software node is better suited for software path comparisons in Snapshot Jobs and Audit Jobs.
