Virtualization enhancements

Version 8.5 includes the following virtualization updates:

Note

Upgrading to a new release can potentially create mismatches between the version of a custom configuration object, an agent, and any model objects that reference custom configuration objects. See Upgrading custom configuration objects.

1 If Guest OS customization for Windows Server 2012 is not completed, reboot the virtual machine manually, as described in VMware knowledge base article 2037366. See also  known issue QM001776934.

2  MS Hyper-V (SCVMM 2012 R2) is supported from BMC Server Automation 8.5 Service Pack 1 (product version 8.5.01) and later versions.

Features

This topic describes the various virtualization updates for 8.5 release.

Support for specifying a Target VM folder for a Virtual Guest Job

You can specify a Target VM folder while you are creating a Virtual Guest Job to create a virtual guest. For more information, see VMware - Config.

Support for scheduling a post-VM creation configuration job

You can schedule a post-VM creation configuration job when you are scheduling a Virtual Guest Job. For more information, see Post-VM creation configuration.

Support for VMware datastore clusters

You can select either a datastore or a datastore cluster while you are creating a Virtual Guest Package and a Virtual Guest Job. For more information, see VMware - Config.

You can view the datastore clusters available in a VMware server by accessing Live Browse. For more information, see Browsing VMware virtual assets.
