Adding the Atrium Discovery configuration object

The integration with BMC Atrium Discovery and Dependency Mapping for the retrieval of BMC BladeLogic Server Configuration Discovery data is enabled through the use of a special Atrium Discovery custom configuration object. Use the following procedure to introduce this custom configuration object into your Configuration Object Dictionary.

Note

Perform this task even if you are upgrading an existing setup of BMC BladeLogic Server Configuration Discovery.

Before you begin

Before you perform the following procedure, obtain the atriumDiscovery.zip file from your local BMC Software Support representative and store it locally in a temporary directory.

To add the Atrium Discovery custom configuration object

  1. Through the BMC Server Automation Console, select Configuration > Config Object Dictionary View.
    The Configuration Object Dictionary opens.
  2. Click Add Configuration Object .
The New Configuration Object wizard opens.
  3. On the General panel, select Server Object, if it is not already selected, and click Next.
  4. On the Server Object Definition panel, click Browse and navigate to the atriumDiscovery.zip file that you obtained from BMC.
  5. Click Next.
The Permissions panel opens. The Permissions panel is an access control list granting roles access to this custom configuration object. Access to all objects, including the sharing of objects between roles, is controlled through ACLs.
  6. (Optional) On the Permissions panel, define an ACL for the custom configuration object.
For more information about defining an ACL and defining permissions for a system object, see Defining permissions for a system object.
  7. To close the wizard and save the new custom configuration object, click Finish.
The Atrium Discovery server object is added to the list of objects in the Configuration Object Dictionary.
