Configuring the file server
BMC Server Automation uses the file server to store the contents of files included in snapshots, Network Shell scripts, BLPackages, software packages, and other types of information that is not easily stored in the database. In addition, the file server stores registry, COM+, and metabase values longer than 255 characters.
The following topics describe how to configure a file server:
- Changing the location of the file server
- File server requirements
- Setting up the file server
- Configuring the file server agent ACLs
To configure a file server, you must specify a host and directory in which BMC Server Automation stores content. Before you can start BMC Server Automation for the first time after a fresh installation, you must perform the procedure described in Setting up the file server.
Prior to setting up the file server, review the file server requirements.
For information on changing a file server, see Changing the location of the file server.
