Quick start for using BLCLI
The BLCLI and Network Shell (NSH) are two BMC Server Automation components:
- The BLCLI is a powerful tool that lets you automate a subset of the functionality that is available through the BMC Server Automation Console.
- NSH is a cross-platform shell with full scripting capability that gives seamless access to remote servers from central management workstations.
Using the BLCLI within NSH scripts provides a scripting interface similar to SH or Bash and the ability to leverage the BMC Server Automation functionality to create objects and run jobs.
To quickly familiarize yourself with the BLCLI, follow these tutorials in order:
- Learning how to run your first BLCLI command
- Using BLCLI commands within an NSH script
- Sample NSH script - SetServerPropertyValue.nsh
- Adding the NSH script to the Depot
- Creating and running a job that uses the NSH script
- Testing the script results
- BLCLI tips
- Setting up to run BLCLI commands in an NSH shell
- Additional authentication details - Running scripts from different places
