Defining includes and excludes for a part

The Includes/Excludes section lets you include or exclude some server objects from those that appear in the Parts list.

For example, you can exclude all log files or backup files in a directory. For information, see Includes and Excludes.

When you define an include or exclude for a component template and you browse a component based on that component template, the results are somewhat different from the browse results when you examine a snapshot or audit based on that same component. In a snapshot or audit, when an include or exclude definition means a folder must not contain any server objects, the snapshot or audit does not display the folder. If you browse a component and an include or exclude definition means a folder must not contain any server objects, you still see the folder, but it does not contain any server objects.

To define includes and excludes for a part

  1. Select an item in the Template Parts list and do one of the following actions:
    • Click Add New Include/Exclude . A dialog box appears. For Name, enter a path to the server object you want to include or exclude, relative to the object that you selected in the Server Objects list. If necessary, use wildcards in the path.
    • Select an existing include or exclude and click Modify . A dialog box appears. For Name, enter a path to the server object you want to include or exclude, relative to the object that you selected in the Server Objects list.  If necessary, use wildcards in the path.
    • Click Add New Include/Exclude . A dialog box appears. In the list at left, select the server objects you want to include or exclude. You can select software or hierarchical server objects. Then click the right-arrow to move your selections to the Selected Parts list. When you select a server object in the Selected Parts list, its name appears in the Name field. If necessary, use the Name field to edit the path to the server object to include or exclude, relative to the object you selected in the first step. The path can include wildcards. The path can also include parameters, which you can type or enter by clicking Select Property .
  2. Depending on what you are specifying, click Include or Exclude.
  3. Click OK.
