Sharing the Data Store

For successful provisioning, you must share the data store, as follows:

  • To provision Windows operating systems:
    • If the data store host is a Windows server, share the data store as a Windows share, as described in Configuring Windows Share .
    • If the data store host is a Linux server, share the data store as a Samba share, as described in Configuring Samba Share.
  • To provision Linux or ESX operating systems (regardless of the OS of the data store host), share the data store through a web server. For information about how to share using the IIS web server, see Configuring IIS Web Server Share.
