Emergency Microsoft Windows Patching
In rare circumstances, you might need to perform an emergency Windows patch deployment outside of the standard BMC Server Automation Microsoft Windows patching and remediation process. Because patches typically undergo a validation cycle before they are available for download from the Shavlik Technologies website, patches might not be available using your update catalog process for up to 24 hours after their initial release on the Microsoft website. If you need to apply a patch to your Windows servers before that patch is available in a BMC Server Automation Windows catalog, you can manually package and deploy the patch as described in the following procedure.
Do not use this procedure for patching in circumstances other than the one just described. For all other scenarios, use the Creating a Remediation Job procedure.
