Creating a folder or group
You can create a folder or group. When creating a folder or group, you can nest a folder within a folder or a group within a group.

To create a folder or group
- Do one of the following:
- Select any of the following folders or any subfolder or subgroup and right-click:
Component Templates
Components
Depot
Devices
Jobs
Servers
To add a new folder, select New > objectType Folder from the pop-up menu. In this menu option, objectType is the type of object for which you are creating a folder, including Component Templates, Jobs, or Depot objects.
To add a new group, select New > objectType > Group from the pop-up menu. In this menu option, objectType is the type of object for which you are creating a group, such as a server or component. - Choose File > New > Other to open the New Select a wizard. Enter a phrase in the filter text box to narrow the search list or expand the General or BMC trees to browse to the component folder or group type you want to create.
A wizard appears.
- Select any of the following folders or any subfolder or subgroup and right-click:
- For Name, enter a name for the folder or group. For Description, you can optionally provide descriptive text.
- Click Next. The Permissions panel appears.
The Permissions panel is an access control list granting roles access to the folder or group. Access to all objects, including the sharing of objects between roles, is controlled through ACLs. For more information about defining an ACL, see Defining permissions for a system object. - Define permissions for the folder or group and click Finish.
