4.8.00 enhancements

This section contains information about new features in BMC Release Process Management 4.8.00.

ItemSummary
LDAP group mapping

You can now use Active Directory (AD) and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to automatically manage user group assignments and their role permissions in the system. To do so, map an AD or LDAP group to an existing group in BRPM. When users from an AD or LDAP group log in to BRPM, they are automatically assigned to the appropriate mapped group in BRPM and they inherit all group permissions.

In addition, when you enable LDAP authentication in BRPM and specify the required configuration details, you can test whether the connection is established successfully using the Test Connection button.

Scheduling steps in requests

You can schedule not only requests but also steps. For more flexibility when running requests. you can now run some input steps, and then schedule the remaining steps in a request to be run later.

Automations

Before this release, you had to develop all automations in the Ruby programming language. The requirement to know Ruby restricted the full usage of automation scripts and made it more time- and resource-consuming.

This version of BRPM supports automations in any interpreted language available on a server. For this purpose, new types of automation scripts were added. You can create custom automation scripts, and specify on which operating system they will be run or which agent type they will use.

In addition, new default automation scripts are available for performing different tasks in multiple external systems.

Secure Shell and Network Shell transport modules allow automations to access target systems easily.

RebrandingBMC Release Process Management 4.8 adopts BMC’s new branding and appearance including a new UI color palette, new fonts, and standardized login screen.
