Manual Task activity library

You can use the Manual Task activity library to include manual steps in a deployment. The deployment process stays active until you change the status of the deployment activity to Pass or Cancel.

The Manual Task activity library emails a notification about the launch of the manual step to the specified users. To configure such notifications, use the default Manual Task notification template. To customize the default Manual Task notification template, add optional tokens to it.

After you finish running the manual steps, you can log on to the application and set the status of the Manual Task activity:

Pass: All the other activities are resumed and completed.
Cancel: The manual task stops, and all the dependent tasks stay in the Wait state. The deployment process is then canceled.

To configure the email template and the target email distribution list in the Manual Task notification task, use the following configuration options:

Parameter	Description
`Notification Template Name`	Name of the notification template to use for this email. If you want to get a notifications about the execution of the manual task, include the `${VL_ACTIVITY_NAME},` `${VL_INSTANCE},${VL_PACKAGE}`, and `${VL_ENVIRONMENT}` tokens into the notification template. For more information about creating the email template, see Creating notifications.
`NEW IN 5.0.01.00 Use Email Notification`	Boolean value to specify whether you want to send email notifications.
`Destination Email Address`	One or more names or email addresses of system users who will receive a notification email. Notes: When the user email domain matches the default domain name that is defined in the System Settings, you can specify only the part of the email that precedes the @ symbol. For example, if the Default Domain value is company.com, you might use john.smith instead of john.smith@company.com. When the email_address in the user details is set to the valid email address, you can use a user name that RPD automatically translates into the email. For users with a non-English local language, notifications might be sent using their local language, if the necessary localized templates exist.
`NEW IN 5.0.01.00 Use Slack Notification`	Boolean value to specify whether you want to send Slack notifications.
`NEW IN 5.0.01.00 Slack URL`	A URL to the Slack API. The default value is https://slack.com/api.
`NEW IN 5.0.01.00 Slack API Token`	A Slack bot user token.
`NEW IN 5.0.01.00 Slack User/Channel`	Slack user or channel name.
`Send logs of dependent activities`	Specifies whether you want to send Full Logs, Action Only, or No logs at all for the dependent activities.

Starting with BMC Release Package and Deployment (formerly BMC Release Package and Deployment) version 4.3.01.07, the Manual Task activity library saves the audit log information. You can view it on the Report tab under Audit Log.
