Using log notes to explain environment conditions

You can use log notes to record information specific to your environments, such as help and support tips. These notes are the result of issues encountered by the system, but you provide the explanation or additional details for clarification or to be specific to your environments.

To create custom log notes

  1. Click the Report tab.
  2. From the left menu, select Log Notes.
  3. On the right side, click New Log Note.
  4. From the menu in the Summary section, select a source for the note.

    Note

A source selection improves filtering when duplicate issues arise from different pack types. The Source menu lists all available packs, including the generic pack, and a filter for instance-creation logs.

  5. In the Pattern field, use a regular expression format to specify the pattern to match.
If the system matches that pattern to a log message, the message is displayed.
  6. In the Notes section, enter the text that you want displayed in the log note.

    Note

Formatting the Notes might not work properly due to the known issue.

  7. Click Create.

Creating log notes during instance creation or deployment processing

You can also create log notes during instance creation or deployment processing. The log displays error messages in red, along with a magnifying glass icon. Click the magnifying glass to view the associated note for that message.

If a note does not exist, you can add one at that time by clicking Add. The system displays the Log Note add page with the Pattern field already filled in. You can edit the pattern as needed.
