Managing pools in the environment

While working with environment pools, you can add the channels to them, group the pools together, or ungroup them. If the pools are grouped, during the deployment the content will be deployed simultaneously to all the channels within the specified pools group.

Adding environment pools

  1. Navigate to the necessary environment:
    1. Click the Topology tab.
    2. From the left menu, select Environments.
    3. Click the name of the environment that you want to modify.
  2. (Optional) Create a new pool in the environment, if necessary:
    1. In the Pools section at the bottom, click Add Pool.
    2. Enter a name to identify the pool.
    3. Click the Submit checkmark icon.
The new pool is created, but no channels are associated with it.
  3. Manage the necessary pool in the environment:
    1. In the Pools section, click Manage in the Actions menu associated with the pool to be changed.
Check boxes appear next to all the channels in the environment.
    2. Check the boxes for all the channels that should be members of this pool.
    3. Click the Submit checkmark icon.
The pooled channels show the proper designation in the Pools column for each channel.

Note

Each channel in an environment can be associated with 0, 1, or many pools.

Grouping environment pools

Note

Starting with BMC Release Package and Deployment 4.4.00.01, you can group the environment pools to deploy all the pools within a group in parallel.

  1. Create several pools in an environment, following the Adding environment pools procedure.
  2. In the Pools section, next to the Actions menu of a selected pool, click the  or  icon, depending on whether you want to group the pool with the above, or with the below located pool.
The pools are grouped. Now during the deployment, the content will be deployed simultaneously to all the channels within the specified pools group.

To ungroup the pools, click the  icon next to the Actions menu of a selected pools group.
