Error messages

This section contains information about various error messages. Error messages are uniquely identified by message IDs. 

The following table lists the error messages with their description that are annotated in the status parameter:

PSM9008E 

SNMP Exception occurred, failed to open the connection and was unable to connect to the remote device.

  • Verify the policy settings (IP address and port).
  • Check if the configured network device is active and can be accessed using the SNMP protocol or not.
PSM9002E

General exception occurred, failed to open the connection and was unable to connect to the remote device.

  • Verify the policy settings (IP address and port).
  • Check if the configured network device is active and can be accessed using the SNMP protocol or not.  
PSM9003ESNMP Exception occurred during connectivity verification, the connection is invalid and was unable to connect to the remote device.
  • Verify the policy settings (IP address and port).
  • Check if the configured network device is active and can be accessed using the SNMP protocol or not. 
  • Check if the SNMP connection validation Object Identifier can be a poll from the device using the SNMP GET operation.
PSM9004EGeneral exception occurred during connectivity verification, the connection is invalid and was unable to connect to the remote device.
  • Verify the policy settings (IP address and port).
  • Check if the configured network device is active and can be accessed using the SNMP protocol or not. 
  • Check if the SNMP connection validation Object Identifier can be a poll from the device using the SNMP GET operation.
PSM9005E

Policy configuration was received on the agent to set monitoring for an existing monitored device. The KM assume that any user on a given device can only have one set of credentials and therefore this request cannot be completed. This can be a typo in the configured credentials. 

  • Verify the policy settings and credentials.
PSM9006ETest connection failed, privacy protocol is wrong and was unable to connect to the remote device.
  • Verify the policy settings (IP address and port).
  • Check if the configured network device is active and can be accessed using the SNMP protocol or not. 
  • Check if the SNMP connection validation Object Identifier can be a poll from the device using the SNMP GET operation.
PSM9007ETest connection failed, the port community is wrong and was unable to connect to the remote device.
  • Verify the policy settings (IP address and port).
  • Check if the configured network device is active and can be accessed using the SNMP protocol or not. 
  • Check if the SNMP connection validation Object Identifier can be a poll from the device using the SNMP GET operation.
PSM9009EFailed to resolve the configured hostname to an IP address.
  • Verify the policy setting. Check if the device name can be updated to an IP address.
PSM9010EFailed to open SNMP static session.
  • Verify the policy setting (device name and port).
  • Check if the configured network device is active or not and can be accessed using the SNMP protocol.
  • Enable debugging
PSM9011EGeneral Exception occurred, failed to create the connection. 
  • Verify the policy setting (device name, port, SNMP version, community string, or SNMP V3 settings only if you configured secured connectivity).
  • Check if the configured network device is active or not and can be accessed using the SNMP protocol.
  • Enable debugging.
PSM9012EGeneral Exception occurred, failed to collect the data on the configured monitors. 
  • Verify the policy setting (device name, port, SNMP version, community string, or SNMP V3 settings only if you configured secured connectivity).
  • Check if the configured network device is active or not and can be accessed using the SNMP protocol.
  • Enable debugging.
  • Please contact BMC Customer Support for additional assistance.
PSM9023EThe external process could not start failed to connect to PATROL Agent CLI and failed to perform data collection on the configured network devices.
  • Verify PATROL Agent CLI connectivity from the command line.
  • Verify defined PCONFIG entries (/AgentSetup/defaultAccount or /ConfigData/AgentSetup/defaultAccount)
  • Check if the PATROL Agent hostname can be used to open the CLI connection if not, you may modify those PCONFIG entries /AgentSetup/publishHostName or /AgentSetup/BindToAddress with a valid hostname or IP address that was used to open the CLI connection. 
PSM9021WPartial data collection occurs. Data collection happened partially as few of the monitor, object types and counters were not available in the operation console.
  • Check if the listed OIDs can be extracted from the configured remote device.
  • Verify policy settings.
  • Check if custom monitors name spelled correctly within the file based configuration.
PSM9022ENative or custom monitors not configured. Failed to perform data collection as network device configured without native or custom monitors.
  • Verify policy settings and try to select at least one of the native monitors or insert any of your custom monitors that you created.
  • Check if the file based configuration contains devices to monitor with at least one native or custom monitors.
PSM0001EThe external process could not start.Since the JAVA HOME is not defined properly, the external process did not start.
  • Check if the JAVA HOME is defined and configured properly or not.
PSM0055EFailed to create the Custom monitor.Since the Custom monitor settings were not defined properly, the KM failed to create the Custom monitor

Check that custom monitor settings meet the following criteria:

  • [Monitor name],[Object-Type name]: The following characters are invalid:
    .!~#$[]{}'%^&()+=<>/:|;,*?\\"
  • [Monitor category]: The value should be between [1-4].
    1=Network 2=system 3=Application 4=Hardware
  • [Counter name]: The following characters are invalid.
    ."!~#$[]{}'%^&()+=<>/:|;,*?\\"
  • [Counter OID/Formula]: The following characters are invalid:
    .|'~`,;\\"
  • [Counter unit]: The value should be between [1-45]
  • [Counter custom unit]: The following characters are invalid.
    .\\" 

 

  • [Counter measure as]: The value should be between [1-3].
    1=Raw 2=Delta 3=Rate
