2.0.00.01: Patch 1 for BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop

The BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop 2.0.00.01 patch corrects an issue reported in 2.0.00 version of BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop. This topic also includes updates provided in this patch and instructions for downloading and installing the patch.

Downloading the installation utility and patch

This section provides the information that you need to download and install the patch from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website. 

To download the installation utility and patch from the EPD website

  1. Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.

    Note

    On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
  3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
  5. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
  6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose.
  7. You can download the installation utility and the product patch using either of the following methods:
Using Component View 
  1. In the Filter Products: field, type BMC PATROL Installation Utility.
  2. Click Go.
  3. In the right pane, click BMC PATROL Installation Utility.
  4. In the Version: list, select 10.5.00, and click Go.
  5. In the Products tab, based on the operating system, select the check box next to the files.

  6. To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:
    • Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an email message.
    • Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively and to resume an interrupted download.
      This method requires a one-time installation of the Akamai NetSession client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum operation is used to verify file integrity automatically.
  7. Click  to close the window.
  8. In the Filter Products: field, type BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop.
  9. Click Go.
  10. In the right pane, click BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop.
  11. In the Version: list, select 2.0.00, and click Go.
  12. In the Patches tab, select the check box next to the patch file.

  13. To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:

  14. Complete the installation procedure described in the Installing the patch section.
Using Licensed Products View 
  1. In the View: field select Licensed Products.
  2. Locate BMC TrueSight Operations Management Suite and expand its entries to show the available version numbers.
  3. Expand BMC TrueSight Operations Management Suite 10.5.00 to show the available components.
  4. Expand BMC PATROL Installation Utility 10.5.00 to show the available files.
  5. Select the check box next to the files, based on the appropriate platforms.

  6. To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:

  8. In the Product Patches tab, expand BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop 2.0.00 to show the the available files.
  9. Select the check box next to the patches, based on the appropriate platform.

Installing the patch 

Note

Before you begin

You must install the patch on the following computers:

  • Hosts that are running the PATROL Agent
  • Hosts that are running the PATROL Console

Before you install the patch, complete the following steps:

  1. Stop the PATROL Agent.
  2. Back up the PATROL_CACHE directory.
  3. Delete all BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop files from the PATROL_CACHE directory.
  4. Back up the PATROL_HOME/lib/knowledge and PATROL_HOME/lib/psl directories.

To install the BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop 2.0.00.01 patch

  1. Extract the installation utility for for Windows:

    • Double-click ins_WINDOWS_10500.zip.
      The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory.
  2. Extract the patch files for Windows:
    • Double-click btk_ALL_200001.zip.
      The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory. 
  3. From the bmc_products directory, run the installation utility as appropriate for your operating system:

    • For Windows, double-click setup.exe.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions until the Select Products and Components to Install page is displayed. 

  5. On the Select Products and Components to Install page, select BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop - Patch 2.0.00.01.

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

    After you complete the installation steps, you can delete the temporary directory and its contents.
