Windows Management Instrumentation Availability (WMIAvailability)

Monitors the availability of WMI.

Note

The Windows Management Instrumentation Availability attribute in BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management is referred as the WMIAvailability parameter in BMC PATROL.

This parameter is active only if WMI is installed on the computer.
To determine the availability of WMI, PATROL verifies the following information:

  • whether the WINMGMT sevice is running.
  • whether the value of the attribute Win32_WMISetting.HighThresholdOnEvents is greater than 20000000. If the value is less than 20000000, PATROL issues a recovery action to set the value to 20000000, the recommend value.
  • whether a synthetic transaction issued against WMI is successful. If the transaction produces the message WBEM_E_OUT_OF_MEMORY, PATROL issues a recovery action to start the WINMGMT service. For more information on configuring the recovery action, see Configuring the WMIAvailability Recovery Action.

When this parameter enters an alarm state, it is annotated with information about the problem.
