Registering BMC Remedy AR System

For monitoring Remedy AR System using PATROL for Remedy AR server, you must first configure PATROL for Remedy AR server by registering the Remedy AR System.

PATROL for Remedy AR server can be configured to monitor both remote and local Remedy AR System

After loading the PATROL for Remedy AR server  Knowledge Modules into the PATROL Console, perform the following steps to configure PATROL for Remedy AR server:

  1. Start the PATROL Console.
  2. Right-click the Remedy AR Systems.
  3. Select KM Commands and click Register AR System.


    The Register AR System For Monitoring dialog box is displayed.
  4. Provide the following details for the Remedy AR Server that you want to monitor:
    1. AR environmentSpecify a user-defined unique name for the Remedy AR Server environment you want to monitor.
    2. Remedy server nameSpecify the Remedy AR Server name you want to monitor. You can either specify the actual server name or an alias name. 

      Note

      Information about some System forms belongs to the core of the Remedy server. To enable the KM to collect data about such System forms, you must have AR Administrator privileges with read and write permission on the Remedy AR Server.


    3.  Override server IP (Optional) Specify the IP address of the Remedy AR Server. If you have specified an alias name in the Remedy server name field, then you must specify the IP address of the Remedy AR Server in the Override server IP field.
    4.  PortSpecify the port number for the Remedy AR Server connection.
    5. User NameSpecify the user name with which you login to the Remedy AR Server. The user license must be of type 'Fixed'.
    6. Password(Optional) Specify the password you use for logging into to the Remedy AR Server.
    7. AuthenticationSpecify the authentication token.
    8. Set Java Home: Specify the Java Home directory.

      The environment variable, Java home or operating default, JAVA_HOME will be used by leaving this field empty. (Not all patrol agent version are shipped with JRE.)

    9. Enable device mappingSelect this check box for displaying monitor instances as devices on the Operations console. By default, this option is enabled.
    10. Enable group monitoring: Clear this check box to monitor a single server at a time. If this check box is selected only users with administrator privileges will be able to monitor the Remedy AR Servers. Clearing this checkbox will allow any user to monitor a single AR Server at a given point of time. 
  5. Click Apply.

Configuring AR Servers for monitoring

The following AR Server setups can be configured for monitoring:

  •  Stand-alone Server: Enter the details for the server in the Register AR System For Monitoring dialog box to configure the server.
  • Grouped Servers: A single server configured as a point of contact, can be used to monitor a group of servers. Applications and forms for the entire group and not per single server are grouped in a container for monitoring. If a Mid-Tier Load Balancing server exists, its availability is also monitored.

Note

The Mid Tier server monitoring supports HTTP based URLs. For HTTPS URLs, use BMC PATROL for Internet Servers for detailed monitoring of the Mid-Tier server.
