1.2.00.01: Patch for PATROL for Linux

The PATROL for Linux 1.2.00.01 patch corrects issues reported in earlier versions of PATROL for Linux 1.2.00. This topic contains information about fixes in this patch and provides instructions for downloading and installing the patch.

Update in the 1.2.00.01 patch

The PATROL for Linux 1.2.00.01 patch includes the following update:

Added platform support

PATROL for Linux 1.2 now supports Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager 4.1. For a list of supported resources, see PATROL for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization system requirements.

To download the installation files

The following table provides links to the pages in the EPD website that contain the installation files for this product. From the EPD page, you can select and download the installation files for your platform. Access to the EPD website requires that you provide your BMC Support credentials. You might also be prompted to complete the Export Compliance Form.

Installing the patch 

Note

Before you begin

You must install the patch on the following computers:

  • Hosts that are running the PATROL Agent
  • Hosts that are running the PATROL Console

Before you install the patch, complete the following steps:

  1. Stop the PATROL Agent.
  2. Back up the PATROL_CACHE directory.
  3. Delete all PATROL for Linux files from the PATROL_CACHE directory.
  4. Back up the PATROL_HOME/lib/knowledge and PATROL_HOME/lib/psl directories.

To install the PATROL for Linux 1.2.00.01 patch

After you have downloaded the installation utility and patch files, perform the following steps to install the patch:

  1. Extract the installation utility for your operating system as appropriate:

    • For Windows, double-click ins_WINDOWS_10700.zip
    • For Linux, enter tar -xvf ins_ALL_10700.tar
      The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory.
  2. Extract the patch files for your operating system as appropriate:
    • For Windows, double-click nuk_LINUX-WINDOWS_120001.zip
    • For Linux, enter tar -xvf nuk_LINUX-WINDOWS_120001.tar
      The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory. 
  3. From the bmc_products directory, run the installation utility as appropriate for your operating system:

    • For Windows, double-click setup.exe

    • For Linux, run setup.sh

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions until the Select Products and Components to Install page is displayed. 
  5. On the Select Products and Components to Install page, select PATROL Knowledge Module for Linux - Patch 1.2.00.01

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

    After you complete the installation steps, you can delete the temporary directory and its contents.
