Application classes and icons

A PATROL application class is any resource utilized or running on a computer. Each running copy of an application discovered and created by PATROL is an instance of the particular application class. Each discovered application instance is represented by an icon in a container window for that application.

The following table contains information on each application class in BMC PATROL for Internet Servers. For more information about the parameters in each application class, see Parameter summary

INET_Dns_Application

Represents the INET_Dns_Application class, which provides for monitoring DNS queries.

This application class is no longer supported by the KM version 9.0.40. For more information see, 9.0.40: Service Pack 4 for BMC PATROL for Internet Server.


INET_Dns_Domain

Represents the INET_Dns_Domain application class, which tracks the domain name expiration of all local and remote monitored domains monitored on each BMC PATROL for Internet Servers installation. This application class has a gauge parameter that shows the days remaining before expiration. It also has a parameter that indicates the actual text data found in the database for that domain.

INET_Dns_Remote

Represents the INET_Dns_Remote application class, which monitors the availability and status of remote DNS servers.

This application class is no longer supported by the KM version 9.0.40. For more information see, 9.0.40: Service Pack 4 for BMC PATROL for Internet Server.


INET_Dns_Server

Represents the INET_Dns_Server application class, which monitors DNS service availability. If the monitored server uses a remote DNS server, a DNS_Client is created. If the monitored server is a DNS server, a Domain_Name_Service instance is created.

INET_Ftp_Server

Represents the INET_Ftp_Server application class, which monitors and manages FTP servers.



INET_Imap_Server

Represents the INET_Imap_Server application class, which monitors and manages IMAP servers.

This application class is no longer supported by the KM version 9.0.40. For more information see, 9.0.40: Service Pack 4 for BMC PATROL for Internet Server.


INET_Ldap_Server

Represents the INET_Ldap_Server application class, which monitors and manages LDAP servers.

INET_Mail_Remote

Represents the INET_Mail_Remote application class, which monitors remote mail hubs.

INET_Mail_Server

Represents the INET_Mail_Server application class, which monitors SMTP-based mail servers.

INET_MS_ASP (Windows only)

Represents the INET_MS_ASP application class, which monitors the performance of Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP) management.

INET_MS_Ftp (Windows only)

Represents the INET_MS_Ftp application class, which provides detailed performance statistics for a Microsoft FTP server.

INET_MS_Iis (Windows only)

Represents the INET_MS_Iis application class, which provides detailed performance statistics for the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) global performance counters.

INET_MS_Index (Windows only)

Represents the INET_MS_Index application class, which provides detailed performance statistics for a Microsoft index server.

INET_MS_ISA

Represents the INET_MS_ISA application class, which provides detailed performance statistics monitoring of a Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) server.

INET_MS_Locator (Windows only)

Represents the INET_MS_Locator application class, which provides detailed performance statistics for a Microsoft Internet locator server.

INET_MS_News (Windows only)

Represents the INET_MS_News application class, provides detailed performance statistics for a Microsoft Internet news server.

INET_MS_Web (Windows only)

Represents the INET_MS_Web application class, which provides detailed performance statistics for a Microsoft Web server component of IIS.

INET_News_Server

Represents the INET_News_Server application class, which monitors and manages NNTP-based news servers.

INET_Pop3_Server

Represents the INET_Pop3_Server application class, which monitors and manages POP3 servers.

This application class is no longer supported by the KM version 9.0.40. For more information see, 9.0.40: Service Pack 4 for BMC PATROL for Internet Server.


INET_Process

Represents the INET_Process application class, which monitors the processes of an Internet server instance. This icon is not displayed when monitoring Windows services, such as Microsoft IIS.

INET_Portmon_Inst

Represents the INET_Portmon_Inst application class, which contains all currently defined Port Monitor instances. Menu commands from this application allow you to mange existing instances.

INET_Portmon_Top

Represents the INET_Portmon_Top application class, which is the top-level container for all the port monitor instances.

This application class is no longer supported by the KM version 9.0.40. For more information see, 9.0.40: Service Pack 4 for BMC PATROL for Internet Server.


INET_Protocol_Tcp

Represents the INET_Protocol_Tcp application class, which reports information about key TCP protocol statistics.

This application class is no longer supported by the KM version 9.0.40. For more information see, 9.0.40: Service Pack 4 for BMC PATROL for Internet Server.


INET_Proxy_Server

Represents the INET_Proxy_Server application class, which monitors and manages proxy servers.

This application class is no longer supported by the KM version 9.0.40. For more information see, 9.0.40: Service Pack 4 for BMC PATROL for Internet Server.


INET_Servers

Represents the INET_Servers application class, which is a top-level application instance for monitoring Internet servers on a host. The host name can represent a physical or virtual name, or a DNS alias. Internet servers, such as Web servers, monitored on the host appear as nested instances under this instance.



INET_Services

Represents the INET_Services application class, which is the top-level container for BMC PATROL for Internet Servers from which you can access several menu commands.


INET_WAS

Represents the INET_WAS application class, which monitors the Windows Activation Service processes. This application class is displayed under Global_Perfmon_Counters>MicrosoftIIS.

INET_Web_AccLog

Represents the INET_Web_AccLog application class, which analyzes the access logs and sets the values of the consumer parameters for other application classes. All parameter instances of this class appear subordinate to an INET_Web_Server or INET_Proxy_Server instance under the heading AccessLog.



INET_Web_AccLogStat

Represents the INET_Web_AccLogStat application class, which provides availability and integrity statistics for a Web or proxy server's Access Log.



INET_Web_Application

Represents the INET_Web_Application class, which is used to monitor individual URLs under an INET_Web_Server instance.



INET_Web_ClientHost

Represents the INET_Web_ClientHost application class, which provides monitoring of the 'TOP' accessing client host machines for a particular INET_Web_AccLogStat instance on a Web or proxy server.



INET_Web_ErrLog

Represents the INET_Web_ErrLog application class, which analyzes the error logs and sets the values of the consumer parameters for other application classes. All parameter instances of this class appear subordinate to an INET_Web_Server or INET_Proxy_Server instance under the heading ErrorLog.



INET_Web_ErrLogStat

Represents the INET_Web_ErrLogStat application class, which provides analysis statistics for a Web or proxy server's Error Log.



INET_Web_Server

Represents the INET_Web_Server application class, which monitors and manages Web servers.



INET_Web_Url

Represents the INET_Web_Url application class, which provides monitoring of the 'TOP' URLs requested for a particular INET_Web_AccLogStat instance on a Web or proxy server.



INET_Web_User

Represents the INET_Web_User application class, which provides monitoring of the 'TOP' authenticated users for a particular INET_Web_AccLogStat instance on a Web or proxy server.



INET_Web_VirtualServer

Represents the INET_Web_VirtualServer application class, which provides monitoring of the 'TOP' virtual servers for a particular INET_Web_AccLogStat instance on a Web or proxy server.



INET_Web_Server_VHost

Represents the INET_Web_Server_VHost application class, which provides monitoring the domain server that requests data.



INET_Web_Server_VHost_Container

Represents the INET_Web_Server_VHost_Container application class, which is the conatiner for INET_Web_Server_VHost application class.
