Installing using PATROL common installer

To install PATROL for Application Management, you an use the PATROL common installer as described in the following process.

You must install the product on the following computers:

  • Hosts that are running the PATROL Agent 
  • Hosts that are running the PATROL Console

Before you begin

It is recommended that you make copies of the following files to a .zip archive (for Windows) or a .tar archive (for Linux):

  • <PATROL home directory>\lib\psl\APM*
  • <PATROL home directory>\lib\psl\EUEM*
  • <PATROL home directory>\APM_KM\jars
  • <PATROL home directory>\EUEM_KM\jars
  • <PATROL home directory>\lib\knowledge\APM*
  • <PATROL home directory>\lib\knowledge\EUEM*

Installing PATROL for Application Management

  1. Download the PATROL Common Installer and the KM installation package. See Downloading the installation files.

  2. Extract the installation utility to a temporary location that is on the same host as the assigned PATROL agent.
    The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory.
  3. Extract the KM product files to a temporary location that is on the same host as the assigned PATROL agent.
    The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory.
  4. Stop the PATROL Agent.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions until the Select Products and Components to Install page is displayed, and select PATROL for Application Management version 10.7.00.01.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  7. After you complete the installation steps, you can delete the temporary directory and its contents.
  8. Start the PATROL Agent.
