Uninstalling the application server

Use these tasks to uninstall the BMC Network Automation application server using the interactive BMC Network Automation uninstaller. See Uninstalling-silently if you want to uninstall your application server using silent mode.

Note

The BMC Network Automation uninstallation process does not delete the OS user created during installation of the application server. If you want to remove this OS user, you must do so manually by using the method appropriate to your OS.

Before you begin

Back up or move any customized files in the BCAN_DATA directory. These files can be deleted during uninstallation.

To uninstall the application server on Microsoft Windows

  1. In the Windows Control Panel, open the Add and Remove Programs utility.
  2. Remove the BMC Network Automation application.
  3. When you are prompted to indicate whether you want to preserve the database backup directory, select yes if you want to maintain your old database backup files. The default is no.

To uninstall the application server on Linux

  1. Run the uninstall command from the /opt/bmc/bca-networks/UninstallBMCBcan directory.
  2. When you are prompted to indicate whether you want to preserve the database backup directory, select yes if you want to maintain your old database backup files. The default is no.

Note

If there are any problems with running the uninstaller, see the BMC Support site knowledge base articles for instructions on manually removing the software.
