Mapping for the ipswitch WhatsUp XML format
The import task maps the Ipswitch WhatsUp XML inventory file as follows.
Device field | WhatsUp XML field | Comments |
---|---|---|
Name | DisplayName | Must be a unique name. Up to 100 characters in length. |
Hostname/IP Address | HostName | Required for new devices. |
Device Type | SNMPObjectID | Maps the OID to the device type. If the SNMPObjectID tag is empty or its value is not found in the Device Type file, BMC Network Automation does not import the device unless a default value is provided for the Device Type field on the Defaults tab of the Import Task. |
Category | SNMPObjectID | The SNMPObjectID is used to determine the category of the device. |
Description | InfoLine1 and InfoLine2 | Appends the two informational lines. |
The WhatsUp Gold database export task might produce a non-compliant XML output. For example, WhatsUp Gold might place ampersand characters directly in the data.
The file can be validated by opening a browser that supports XML, such as Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer lists the lines in the export file that have errors. You can use a text editor to correct these errors before importing the file into the software.
