Viewing a Discrepancy Details report

The Discrepancy Details report is launched from a parent page that identifies the discrepancy. To view and interpret the Discrepancy Details report, perform the following steps:

  1. Launch a report such as the Discrepancy Summary Report and then, click the View Discrepancy Details Report icon in the Running vs Trusted Running column.

    The Discrepancy Details report displays a side-by-side comparison of the following configuration file discrepancies based on the selected report criteria.
    • Current Running versus Startup
    • Current Running versus Trusted Running
    • Current Startup versus Trusted Startup
    • Current Running OS Image versus Trusted Running OS Image

  2. (Optional): Perform one of the following tasks by using the menu options that are available on the Discrepancy Details Report page:

    Menu option
    Description
    Print ViewPrint a copy of the report.
    Export

    Export the report to one of the following formats:

    • HTML
    • PDF
    • RTF
    EmailEmail the report to one or more recipients in one of the export formats.
    CloseClose the report window.
    HelpDisplay Help.
  3. Select one of the following radio buttons:
    1. Difference Only View: To view only the differences between the files, with a few lines of surrounding context (default).
    2. Full View: To view all configuration lines, side-by-side.
  4. Review the legend information as shown in the following table to interpret the results:

    Added (<, >)

    Lines that are in one file, but not in the other file, are shown with a red background. The > or < symbol points to the file with the added line(s).

    Changed (!)

    Lines that are in both files, but differences are shown with a blue background.

    Ignored (x)

    Lines that are ignored are shown in grey italics. These lines were modified by the device itself.

    Hidden Line

    When comparing a template to a full configuration, these configuration file lines are hidden as they are not applicable to the comparison.

    Skipped Line

    Shows when lines are skipped to focus on the differences between the items being compared.

    Block Context

    Shows the first line of a block (for example, interface) where a difference is found to show context.

    The Actions area of the report lists hyperlinks for job actions that are appropriate to the type of discrepancy displayed in the report. The available actions for each type of discrepancy are as follows:

    • Current Running versus Startup: Commit and Reboot
    • Current Running versus Trusted Running: Deploy to Active (Trusted Running) and Mark as Trusted
    • Current Startup versus Trusted Startup: Deploy to Stored (Trusted Startup) and Mark as Trusted
    • Current Running OS Image versus Trusted Running OS Image: none
  5. Click the Action hyperlink.
    The Discrepancy Details Report pop-up window and the parent window close, and the Job Editor is displayed, along with the respective Action Editor popup window.
