Stopping the BMC AMI Batch Optimizer Subsystem

You can leave the MBOS running continuously. However, you must stop it as part of an orderly shutdown of MVS before an IPL.

To stop the MBOS address space in a nondestructive manner

Enter the following command:
mbos SHUTDOWN
When you stop the MBOS, the following actions occur:
- Message BMC11106I indicates that termination was initiated, and message BMC11228I confirms that termination completed.
  Following are example messages:
  BMC11106I Subsystem termination initiated. MBOS
  BMC11228I Subsystem termination completed (EOT). MBOS>
- If Job Optimizer has work executing on the subsystem when you enter the SHUTDOWN command, the MBOS issues the BSL QUIESCE NOW command to perform an orderly shutdown.
- The MBOS remains in memory until you perform an IPL.
(optional) To stop the MBOS address space immediately, regardless of any processing that might be occurring when the command is entered, include the optional FORCE command.

The MBOS responds with messages to indicate that a forced shutdown might cause unpredictable results.

Select the option that you want to use:

Continue with the forced shutdown.

N

Switch to normal shutdown processing.

The MBOS issues the BSL QUIESCE NOW command to perform an orderly shutdown.

Any other key

Stop the forced shutdown and continue processing as if the command had not been issued.
