Jobs parallel processing and scheduling

Efficient parallel processing requires that executing applications do not sit idle, waiting for external conditions to be satisfied, before they continue processing.

This idle time could cause on of the following problems:

  • If a reader application begins execution before its predecessor writer application, it has nothing to read (it is connected to an empty pipe).

  • If a writer application is executing and its successor reader application is not executing shortly thereafter, the pipe connected to the writer application fills with data and the writer application is unable to continue processing.

Control-M users can use the special interface with Job Optimizer Pipes to achieve efficient parallel processing.
