Switching control data sets

If your site has multiple control data sets, you can switch to a new control data set if you are not registering a BatchPlex or policy definition.

You can activate only the policy members that reside in the control data set that is being used by the 'current' MainView Batch Optimizer Subsystem. (The current MBOS is the one that is executing on the system where you are executing the activate command.) If you attempt to activate a policy member that does not exist in that control data set, messages for that policy member are executed in the task log to indicate that the member does not exist.

To switch to a new control data set

In one of the following panels, enter or select the name of a new or existing control data set in the Control data set field and press Enter:
  • MainView Batch Optimizer Objects List panel

  • New Control Data Set pop-up panel (see the following figure), which is accessed by choosing Options > 5 (Switch control data set) on the action bar, and pressing Enter.

Tip

If you have enabled the Maintain data set list option, you can use the Prompt facility (F4 for Prompt or click on the plus sign) to select from a list of previously accessed control data sets.

If you enter the name of a control data set that does not currently exist, a new control data set will be created.

If you enter or select an existing control data set, the following message is displayed, and the MainView Batch Optimizer Objects List panel is displayed. dataSetName is the name of the control data set that you just selected.
