Stopping the BMC Software Primary Subsystem - Job Optimizer

BMC recommends that the BMCP run continuously.

However, you must stop it as part of an orderly shutdown of MVS before an IPL. The SHUTDOWN command provides a nondisruptive way of stopping a BMC Software Primary Subsystem, allowing jobs to finish before the subsystem shuts down.

To stop the BMCP

  1. Enter the following command:

    bmcp SHUTDOWN

The BMCP responds with message BMC10106I to indicate that termination was initiated and message BMC10228I to indicate that termination completed. Status messages are also displayed.

    The following are example messages:

    BMC10106I Subsystem termination initiated. BMCP

    BMC10228I Subsystem termination completed. BMCP

  2. (optional) Review the system log to ensure that the command is completed successfully.
