Creating new control data sets

You can create additional control data sets by using one of the following methods:
  • Using the MainView Batch Optimizer user interface (dialog)

  • Copying an existing control data set and making the needed changes

To create control data sets by using the user interface

  1. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Enter a new control data set name in the Control data set field in the MainView Batch Optimizer Objects List panel.

    • Enter a new control data set name when you choose to switch control data sets.

The following message is displayed, and the Allocate New Control Data set panel is displayed (Allocate New Control Data set pop-up panel).

  2. Enter the allocation parameters for the control data set, and press Enter.

The following message is displayed, and the MainView Batch Optimizer Objects List panel is displayed. dataSetName is the name of the control data set that you just created.

The new control data set is now the active one.

  3. Create members for the control data set, as needed.

Because this data set is a new control data set, you need to create the necessary members. For information about creating control data set members, see the appropriate sections in the MainView Batch Optimizer Data Optimizer Reference Manual or the MainView Batch Optimizer Job Optimizer Reference Manual for the member that you want to create.

The dialog saves future changes made to BatchPlex and policy definitions in the specified control data set until you switch to another control data set.

To create control data sets by copying

Create a new control data set by modifying member BSSXCOPY.

BSSXCOPY is found in the installation data set that was created during product installation. This data set contains an INSTALL suffix.

The BSSXCOPY member copies the members that are required for the MainView Batch Optimizer components. These members can be copied from an existing control data set or from the installation data set that was created during the initial product installation.
