DACAMS program
DACAMS contains assembler source that, when compiled and link-edited, links to the IBM utility IDCAMS. When implemented, DACAMS becomes an alias for IDCAMS. DACAMS functions exactly like IDCAMS, but you can register DACAMS to bypass compression and expansion activities.
This alias feature is optional but may be useful for many reasons. The need for VSAM backup processing provides the three most important advantages of using this alias. If you use the DACAMS alias for VSAM backup processing, you will realize the following benefits:
- reduced I/O during backup and restore processing
- reduced tape usage for backups
- use of IDCAMS functions such as PRINT for problem determination
Member DACAMS of data set BMC.DAC.JCL on the distribution tape contains the DACAMS program.
