Relationship not made between BMC Network Automation change request and CI

If you are seeing the issue where a relationship is not being created between a BMC Network Automation change request and the BMC Atrium CMDB configuration item (CI), complete the steps shown in the following table to isolate the issue:

Step

Description

Step 1: Review global.properties settings

Verify that the BMC Network Automation global.properties parameters that set the CI relationship are set appropriately. The default settings are listed below. These defaults settings will only update CIs in change requests when the BMC Network Automation job completes and the change request is closed. This behavior is for performance reasons, as it can take 10 to 20 seconds to associate each CI.

  • aoIncludeCIsForJobCreate - false
  • aoIncludeCIsForJobUpdate -false
  • aoIncludeCIsForJobComplete -true

Step 2: Verify the CI name

Verify that the CI Name in BMC Atrium CMDB is the same as in BMC Network Automation. Open the BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem form and ensure that the same name exists in the DatasetId - BMC.Asset.

Step 3: Verify import is successful

Verify that the BMC Atrium CMDB import is successful by completing the following steps:

  1. Log on to BMC Network Automation.
  2. Go to the Admin tab and select Device Import.
  3. Check if the Device name shows that is was modified.
