Configuration Automation overview

Manually coordinating change and configuration management is time consuming and error-prone. Administrators need to automate configuration changes in their environment.

Business value

In the BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite, Configuration Automation speeds the process of changing IT components to ensure that they deliver secure, reliable services that meet service level agreements (SLAs) and regulatory requirements. Administrators can use the value path to automate the configuration changes in their environment. The BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite enables administrators to manipulate configuration settings at a granular level, reducing the risk of misconfigurations that impact service. Administrators can execute one-to-many ad hoc changes through the creation of standard packages and repeatable jobs.

Administrators can use Configuration Automation to validate that all changes are made in an expected manner and update their configuration management database (CMDB) and other tracking systems. All changes can be integrated into change management processes.

Configuration Automation functional architecture

Configuration Automation provides the ability to automate infrastructure deployments and changes across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. The use cases described in this release only cover cross-product solutions for Configuration Automation.
