Using the common object to provide the information required to create the adapter request

The utilities modules Operations Actions (Application, Common, Directory Services, File, Network, Operating System and Physical Device) use a command line, SSH, Telnet, or Windows command adapter to execute the central command for the workflow. For each of these workflows, you must use a common object to provide the information required to create the adapter request that executes the central command.

A common object is an XML document containing specific elements used to assign multiple values to a single variable. Each value is associated with an element of the common object. The connection details input required by each of the Common Actions uses the ConnectionDetails common object (AutoPilot–CA–Common_Utilities: ConnectionDetails). The different adapters require different sets of elements in the common object.

Use an Assign activity to create the common object XML document. Create a separate assign statement for each element of the ConnectionDetails common object. Each assign statement is mapped to the same variable, and BMC Atrium Orchestrator Development Studio creates the common object XML document.
