Creating module configuration groups and configuration items

In BMC Atrium Orchestrator, a configuration item is a variable that persists across multiple modules within a grid. You use the module configuration editor in BMC Atrium Orchestrator Development Studio to define its value. When its module is active, you can modify its value in Grid Manager.

The BMC Atrium Orchestrator Grid Manager module configuration editor contains configuration groups, such as BMC_AR_System or HP_ServiceCenter, for specific applications. These configuration groups contain configuration items that you use to integrate with a BMC Remedy IT Service Management (ITSM) system and to define how the Operations Actions Management modules use workflows within an ITSM system. Default module configuration items that are installed with each module provide integration with BMC Remedy ITSM and HP ServiceCenter.

Although each Operations Actions Management module contains default configuration items, you can create or change configuration items at any time. The procedures in this topic describe how to use BMC Atrium Orchestrator to create and edit a module configuration item.

To create a module configuration group

  1. In the BMC Atrium Orchestrator Development Studio application, select the module in which you want to create the configuration group.
  2. Click Add Module Configuration Group, labeled in the following figure:

  3. (Optional) Enter a new name for the group.
  4. Click Save.

Note

If you do not enter a name for the group, the group is named NewContainer appended with a number. The first group is NewContainer1; subsequent groups are numbered sequentially.

To create a module configuration item

  1. In the Module Configuration group that you created in the previous procedure, click Add Module Configuration Item, labeled in the following figure:
