About dynamic target support in OA Storage Management

This module supports dynamic targeting.

When you enable an adapter on a grid, you provide the details of the server to target in the adapter configuration. Without using dynamic targeting, every request to the adapter points to the server target defined in the adapter configuration.

Dynamic targeting permits you to override the server target defined in the adapter configuration. Calls are then made to different targets that you specify in the workflow input, such as different NetApp or EMC systems.

In NetApp environments

Dynamic targeting provides the ability to communicate with multiple NetApp DataFabric Manager servers, which are not configured in the adapter configuration. To use dynamic targeting, you must pass the following connection details for the target NetApp DataFabric Manager server in the workflow input:

  • target
  • username
  • password
  • encryption type
  • protocol
  • port

In EMC environments

Dynamic targeting provides the ability to communicate with multiple EMC SMIS-providers, which are not configured in the adapter configuration. To use dynamic targeting, you must pass the following connection details for the target EMC SMIS provider inputs:

  • target
  • username
  • password
  • protocol
  • port
  • time out secs
