Configuring BMC Server Automation for the operator-initiated change run book

For the Operator-initiated change for BMC Remedyforce use case, you must configure BMC Server Automation to integrate with BMC Remedyforce by using BMC Atrium Orchestrator. This topic describes the process to configure BMC Server Automation. 

Before you begin

Before you configure BMC Server Automation to integrate with BMC Remedyforce and to create operator-initiated change, ensure that the following prerequisites are met:

  • BMC Server Automation version 8.5 is installed.
  • BMC Atrium Orchestrator Configuration Distribution Peer is installed and running.

Configuring BMC Server Automation to integrate with BMC Atrium Orchestrator

To integrate with BMC Atrium Orchestrator CDP, perform the following steps.

  1. Log on to BMC Server Automation Console as a BLAdmin user.
  2. From the menu, go to Configurations and click AO Configuration
  3. On the AO Configuration dialog box, click Add to add a new configuration.
  4. Enter the CDP host name and port number URL.
  5. Click Save.

Configuring BMC Server Automation Job Approvals

For the Operator-initiated change for BMC Remedyforce use case, you must configure the Approval types for the job type that you are running. When you execute the job, the Approval Information window is displayed, which allows you to select the approval type based on which a change and task are created in BMC Remedyforce. 

The Operator-initiated change for BMC Remedyforce use case supports all Job types. Perform the following steps to set the Approval type for the File Deploy job.

  1. Log on to BMC Server Automation Console as a BLAdmin user.
  2. From the menu, go to Configurations and click Approval Configuration.
  3. On the Job Approval Required Configuration window, select the Yes option against File Deploy Job.
    When you execute the File Deploy Job, an Approval Information dialog box is displayed. 
  4. Click OK.
