Working with logs

The topics in this section provide an overview of the standard BMC Server Automation log files.

BMC Server Automation uses log4j to capture log messages from the console and the BMC Server Automation Application Server. Log4j is an open source logging framework used to control logging output from Java applications. For more information about log4j, see http://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/.

Unless instructed otherwise by BMC Support, the default logging configuration is recommended for normal operation. BMC Support might ask the Application Server Administrator to enable DEBUG logging for a single logger when debugging a particular issue. This change is typically backed out after the requested DEBUG information has been gathered.
